Debriefing
When a study or experiment ends, researchers are required to “debrief” participants. In a “debriefing” a researcher explains the purpose of the study, explains the use of deception (if any was used), encourages the participant to ask questions about the study, and allows the researcher to address any harm to the participant that may have resulted from their participation in the study. Debriefing is important to make sure the participant does not feel harmed from the study in any way.
