According to the legendary developmental psychologist, Jean Piaget, from birth to approximately age 2 learn to coordinate all their sensory experiences (sights, sounds, etc.) with their motor behaviors. At this stage of development, children learn about and start to understand the world around them by doing things like sucking, grasping, crawling, etc.
